Paste any phone number — local, national, or international — and instantly see it formatted into the standard you need. Our phone number formatter supports E.164 (the universal machine-readable standard), international display format, and national (country-local) format, all in one click. No account, no server uploads — everything runs right in your browser.
How to Format and Validate a Phone Number
- Enter your phone number — paste or type any phone number into the input field. Raw digits, spaces, dashes, dots, or parentheses are all fine.
- Select the country — choose the country code from the dropdown. This lets the tool correctly interpret domestic numbers without a country prefix.
- Click "Format & Validate" — the tool will parse the number and display E.164, international, and national format variants.
- Copy the format you need — use the one-click copy button next to any formatted output.
- Bulk format (optional) — paste a list of phone numbers (one per line) in the bulk tab to format and validate them all at once.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is E.164 phone number format?
E.164 is the international standard format defined by the ITU-T for phone numbers. It starts with a + sign, followed by the country code and subscriber number, with no spaces, dashes, or parentheses — for example, +12025551234. E.164 is required by most APIs, CRMs, and SMS platforms for consistent processing.
What is the difference between E.164 and international format?
Both include the country code and + prefix, but international format adds spaces and punctuation for human readability (e.g., +1 202-555-1234). E.164 strips all punctuation for machine readability. Use E.164 when feeding numbers into software; use international format when displaying numbers to people.
Can I validate phone numbers from any country?
Yes. The formatter supports 180+ countries. Select the correct country from the dropdown and the tool applies country-specific numbering rules — for example, UK numbers have different digit lengths than US numbers, and the tool knows this.
What happens if I enter an invalid number?
The tool will tell you the number is invalid and explain why — for example, "too few digits for this country" or "invalid area code." It will not silently produce a formatted version of a bad number.
Does this tool store or share my phone numbers?
No. All formatting and validation logic runs in your browser using JavaScript. No data is sent to any server. Your phone numbers are private.
Can I format a list of phone numbers at once?
Yes — use the Bulk tab. Paste one phone number per line, select the country (or include country codes inline), and the tool formats all of them. You can download the results as a CSV with original and formatted columns.
What if my number already has the country code in it?
No problem. If the number starts with + or includes the country code digits, the tool will detect it automatically. You can leave the country dropdown on "Auto-detect" in that case.
What formats can I input?
The tool accepts almost any format: (202) 555-1234, 202.555.1234, 202-555-1234, 12025551234, +12025551234, and more. It strips non-numeric characters (except the leading +) and parses the remaining digits.
