Convert TGA images to PNG directly in your browser. Drop one or more .tga files to decode, preview, and download them individually
or together as a ZIP. PNG output is lossless, and supported TGA alpha
transparency is preserved.

Uncompressed and RLE truecolor, grayscale, and color-mapped TGA images. Common 8/16/24/32-bit pixel and palette layouts are supported where applicable.
PNG is encoded by the browser from decoded pixels. It is lossless, so there is no quality slider. Supported alpha transparency is preserved.
Top/bottom and left/right TGA origin flags are normalized so the PNG displays in its intended orientation.
TGA decoding, PNG encoding, previews, and ZIP creation happen in this browser. Your images are not uploaded to Flipper File or sent to a conversion service.
TGA to PNG Converter
This TGA to PNG converter opens Truevision TGA images in the browser and exports them as standard PNG files. It supports single-file and batch conversion without requiring image-editing software or a server upload.
How to Convert TGA to PNG
- Drop one or more
.tgafiles into the converter or click the upload area. - Wait for each image to be decoded and converted to PNG.
- Review the preview, dimensions, TGA type, bit depth, orientation, and file sizes.
- Download individual PNG files or export all successful conversions as one ZIP.
Supported TGA Formats
The converter handles uncompressed and run-length encoded TGA data for truecolor, grayscale, and color-mapped images. Truecolor images can use common 15/16-bit, 24-bit, or 32-bit pixel layouts. Grayscale images can use 8-bit intensity or 16-bit intensity-plus-alpha pixels. Color-mapped files can use 8-bit or 16-bit indexes with common 15/16/24/32-bit palette entries.
RLE-Compressed TGA Files
TGA run-length encoding stores repeated pixels in packets. This converter expands both RLE packets and raw packets while enforcing the image's declared dimensions. Malformed packets are rejected rather than allowed to overrun the output buffer.
Alpha Transparency
32-bit truecolor TGA images and 16-bit grayscale images can contain alpha data, which is preserved in PNG output. For 16-bit truecolor and palette entries, the high attribute bit is treated as alpha when the TGA descriptor declares attribute bits.
TGA Image Orientation
TGA files can store pixels from different horizontal and vertical origins. This converter reads those descriptor flags instead of assuming every image starts in the same corner. Rare interleaved TGA storage modes are rejected rather than decoded with the wrong row order.
Color-Mapped TGA Files
Indexed TGA images store pixel indexes separately from their palette. The converter reads the color-map origin, palette length, palette depth, and indexes before translating the image to RGBA pixels for PNG encoding.
Why Convert TGA to PNG?
TGA is common in game textures, rendering pipelines, and older graphics workflows, while PNG has broader support in browsers, content-management systems, image viewers, and design applications. PNG also provides lossless compression and standard alpha transparency.
Private Browser-Side Conversion
Files are read with browser APIs, decoded into pixels locally, and encoded to PNG locally with browser compression APIs and an exact RGBA PNG writer. The batch ZIP is also built locally. No external JavaScript library or third-party conversion API is required.
