Upload any two images and compare them instantly — side by side, with an interactive overlay slider, or using a pixel-level difference highlight. Whether you're checking photo edits, reviewing design revisions, or spotting subtle changes between screenshots, Flipper File's image comparison tool makes it effortless. No upload to a server, no login, no software to install — everything runs directly in your browser.
How to Compare Two Images
- Upload your first image — click the left drop zone or drag and drop any JPG, PNG, WebP, or GIF file.
- Upload your second image — do the same on the right panel. Both images load instantly in your browser.
- Choose your comparison mode — pick Side by Side, Overlay Slider, or Difference Highlight from the toolbar.
- Inspect the differences — drag the slider, zoom in, or toggle the diff overlay to highlight changed pixels.
- Done — no saving, no exporting required. Refresh the page to start over with new images.
Why Use Flipper File to Compare Images?
- Three comparison modes — side-by-side view, an interactive drag slider (overlay mode), and a difference-highlight mode that colors changed pixels in red.
- Works entirely in your browser — your images never leave your device. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
- No account, no login — just open the page and start comparing.
- Supports all common formats — JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and more.
- Pixel-level difference detection — the diff mode calculates the exact per-pixel delta and renders a visual heatmap.
- Free and unlimited — compare as many image pairs as you want with no restrictions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this tool upload my images anywhere?
No. All processing happens inside your web browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your images are never sent to any server, so your files remain completely private.
What image formats are supported?
The tool supports JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and BMP files. Any format your browser can natively render will work.
What is "difference highlight" mode?
Difference highlight compares the images pixel by pixel and renders a new image where unchanged areas are shown in grayscale and changed pixels are colored red (or highlighted). This makes even tiny edits immediately obvious.
What is the overlay slider mode?
In overlay mode, both images are stacked on top of each other and a draggable vertical divider lets you reveal one or the other as you drag left and right — the classic "before and after" comparison experience.
What happens if my two images are different sizes?
The tool scales both images to a common comparison size while preserving their aspect ratios. The difference highlight mode also works across mismatched dimensions by comparing at the rendered size.
Can I compare screenshots?
Absolutely. Screenshots are one of the most common use cases — comparing before/after UI changes, checking that a design was implemented correctly, or reviewing A/B test variants.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no enforced limit. Very large images (over 20 MB each) may be slower to process because all work happens on your device's CPU/GPU via the browser canvas, but there is no server-side cap.
Can I use this on my phone or tablet?
Yes. The tool is fully responsive and works on mobile devices. The slider mode is touch-friendly.
