How to convert PDF to PNG
Drop your PDF onto the upload area or click to browse for a file. Choose your output resolution and color mode, then click Convert to PNG. Each page becomes its own PNG image, which you can download individually or grab all at once as a ZIP file.
Choosing the right DPI
DPI (dots per inch) controls how sharp the output PNG looks. Higher DPI means a larger image with more detail — and a bigger file size.
- 72 DPI — Best for posting screenshots, web previews, and any image that will only be viewed on a screen at its original size.
- 150 DPI — A safe default. Sharp on screens, good enough for casual printing.
- 300 DPI — The print industry standard. Use this for anything you plan to print at full size, including documents, flyers, and signage.
- 450–600 DPI — For zooming in, archiving, or high-end print work. Output files can be very large, especially on long PDFs.
Why this PDF to PNG converter works in your browser
Most online PDF tools upload your file to a remote server, convert it there, and send the result back. This tool runs entirely in your browser using PDF.js, so your file is never sent anywhere. That makes it safer for confidential documents and faster once the converter has loaded, since the round-trip to a server is skipped.
Tips for the best output
- For PDFs with photos or screenshots, use 300 DPI or higher to avoid soft edges.
- For text-only documents, 150 DPI is usually plenty unless you need print quality.
- Use Grayscale or Black & white mode to dramatically shrink file sizes when color isn't needed.
- Use the page range field (e.g.
1-3, 5) to convert only the pages you need from large documents.
