Paste a JSON array and instantly generate SQL INSERT statements. Pick your dialect, choose your columns, and copy in one click.
Converting a JSON array into SQL INSERT statements is one of those tasks that comes up constantly during development — importing test data, migrating records, or seeding a database — and it's tedious to do by hand. This tool takes any valid JSON array, lets you specify your table name and column mappings, and instantly outputs ready-to-run INSERT statements you can paste directly into your SQL client. Everything happens in your browser, so your data never leaves your machine.
How to Convert JSON to SQL INSERT Statements
- Paste your JSON array into the input box — the tool will automatically detect the keys and preview the columns.
- Enter your target table name in the Table Name field.
- Choose your SQL dialect: MySQL / MariaDB, PostgreSQL, SQLite, or SQL Server.
- (Optional) Toggle individual columns on or off if you don't want every field included.
- Click Generate SQL and copy your ready-to-use INSERT statements.
Why Use Flipper File to Convert JSON to SQL?
- Runs 100% in your browser — your JSON data is never uploaded to any server, keeping sensitive data private
- Dialect-aware output — choose MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, or SQL Server and get properly formatted syntax for each
- Batch inserts supported — outputs a single multi-row INSERT or individual statements depending on your preference
- Column picker — toggle any field on or off so you only insert the columns you actually need
- Handles nested values gracefully — automatically stringifies nested objects/arrays so no data is silently lost
- Null-safe — properly converts JSON
nullto SQLNULLrather than the string "null"
Frequently Asked Questions
What format does my JSON need to be in?
Your input must be a JSON array of objects — for example, [{"id": 1, "name": "Alice"}, {"id": 2, "name": "Bob"}]. A single object (not wrapped in an array) is also accepted; the tool will treat it as a one-row insert.
Can I choose which columns get included?
Yes. After pasting your JSON, all detected keys are shown as toggleable checkboxes. Uncheck any column you want to exclude from the output.
Which SQL dialects are supported?
The tool supports MySQL / MariaDB, PostgreSQL, SQLite, and SQL Server (T-SQL). Each dialect handles string quoting and reserved-word escaping slightly differently, and the output reflects those differences.
How are nested objects or arrays handled?
Nested values are automatically serialized as JSON strings, since SQL tables don't natively store nested structures. This prevents data loss and lets you store them in a TEXT or JSON column.
What happens with null values?
JSON null is correctly mapped to SQL NULL (unquoted), which is what you want when inserting into nullable columns.
Does the tool handle special characters in strings?
Yes — single quotes inside string values are automatically escaped (e.g. O'Brien becomes O''Brien), so your INSERT statements won't break in your SQL client.
Is there a row limit?
No hard limit. The tool is client-side, so it can handle as many rows as your browser can reasonably process. Very large JSON files (thousands of rows) will still work fine.
Is my data stored or logged anywhere?
No. All processing happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is sent to Flipper File's servers.
