Convert HTML to Jade (Pug) in Your Browser

This tool converts standard HTML markup into Jade (now known as Pug) syntax. Paste a full HTML document or a snippet, choose your formatting preferences, and get properly indented Jade output instantly.

Everything runs locally in your browser. No uploads. No server processing.

What this HTML to Jade converter does

  • Parses HTML using your browser’s DOM engine
  • Converts tags into indentation-based Jade syntax
  • Supports .class and #id shorthand (when safe)
  • Preserves attributes like data-*, aria-*, and boolean attributes
  • Handles nested structures correctly
  • Converts <script> and <style> blocks into Jade block syntax
  • Lets you choose indentation style (tabs or spaces)

You can copy the output or download it as a .jade file.

How to use it

  1. Paste HTML into the input area (or upload a file).
  2. Choose your formatting options:
    • Tabs or spaces
    • Attribute style
    • Text handling mode
  3. Click Convert (or press Ctrl/Cmd + Enter).
  4. Copy or download the result.

The converter works with full documents (<!doctype html>, <html>, <head>, <body>) or small fragments.

What is Jade (Pug)?

Jade (renamed to Pug) is a templating language that replaces HTML’s angle brackets with indentation-based structure.

For example:

HTML

div(class="card") h1 Title

Jade

.card h1 Title

It removes closing tags and uses indentation to represent hierarchy.

Common questions

Is Jade the same as Pug?

Yes. Jade was renamed to Pug. The syntax is nearly identical, and this tool generates standard Jade/Pug-style output.

Does this tool change my markup?

The structure and attributes are preserved. The only changes are syntactic — converting tags and attributes into Jade format.

If your class names contain characters that cannot safely be expressed in shorthand, they will remain as standard class="..." attributes.

Does it handle invalid HTML?

Your browser will automatically normalize malformed HTML before conversion. That means minor errors may be corrected before Jade is generated.

Are script and style blocks preserved?

Yes. <script> and <style> contents are converted into Jade block syntax so the code remains intact.

Does this support dynamic templating syntax?

This tool converts plain HTML. It does not interpret server-side template logic like EJS, Handlebars, or JSX.

Is my code uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser.
